Cadets are in a structured environment and have the opportunity for robust academic and extra-curricular instruction that will develop their academics, character, and ultimately leadership.
These are key ingredients to a successful life.
Since UMA opened, our cadets have been awarded over 7.5 million in scholarships, 13 Service Academy Appointments, 2 Ivy League acceptances, and 1 National Merit Scholar. We offer AP courses taught by distinguished teachers, CE courses through Snow College, and Early College options through Weber State. We have a National Competition Chemistry Team and numerous Ritchie Science Fair Award Winners.
UMA offers more than 20 Computer Business and Tech courses designed to result in national certifications including CAD. Our CyberPatriot Team is Nationally ranked and UMA has been selected by the Air Force as a Beta school for the new Cyber for All Program. We help interested upperclassmen find IT related internship opportunities. Our cadets can participate in advanced tech programs at local ATCs. Over 100 UMA cadets have enlisted in various branches of the military. Through our Flight Program, AFJROTC, or CAP our cadets have the potential to earn their pilot’s license before graduation. We want our cadets to graduate with a future.
UMA is the largest, nationally recognized AFJROTC program in the Western United States. We have Wing Staff, Color and Honor guards, Student Body Government, Student 2 Student program, and HOPE Squad. We have the only high school level State Legislative Internship program in Utah with past cadets serving as interns for State Legislatures, the Attorney General, and even the Governor. Each year we have cadets selected to attend premier leadership camps throughout the nation. A common comment we hear from parents is how much their children have matured and are turning into leaders.
UMA offers a wide variety of opportunities including, but not limited to: Liberal Arts and Music, STEM, Computer Technology, and Aviation Science. We have had 6 cadets awarded spots at the AFROTC Flight Academy and 2 awarded spots at the AFROTC Cyber Academy. We help cadets with internships in a variety of career fields. We offer a wide variety of extensive, amazing after school activities including numerous traditional and non-traditional athletics. We partner with the Civil Air Patrol, Naval Sea Cadets and a number of other organizations to bring as many opportunities to our cadets as possible.
At UMA we have a commitment to service. Our Cadets annually perform over 5000 service hours, including involvement in our UMA annual day of service every April in support of our local communities.
