Mike Stumph

Greetings Utah Military Academy Parents and Community,

It is my pleasure to continue to serve you as principal this year!   This is my ninth year in educational leadership. Prior to becoming principal, I had many leadership experiences including literacy teacher, Special Programs Director, and assistant principal in various schools throughout Utah and Idaho.   My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Exceptionality with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders (Education), and a Master of Educational Leadership from University of Texas. By pursuing lifelong learning, I intend to be an example to students and teachers that we should never stop learning.

I am blessed to be the father of four awesome young people, Jayson, Jordan, Averi, and Jenna.  They are the loves of my life.  I have the same expectations for them as I do your children, who I treat as if they are my own. I want to see them excel and become productive human beings, who have ample opportunity to become whatever they want to be when they grow up.   My educational experiences have afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being. My educational philosophy is based on an uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. All of which Utah Military Academy possesses.

It is my privilege to lead Utah Military Academy and the many talented teachers and students here! My goal is to continue to provide a supportive climate and culture at UMA that is conducive to teaching and learning. By doing so, each individual student and teacher can experience growth to their highest potential. I look forward to interacting with all stakeholders in our school community this year!
