McKayla Carter

Art Instructor

My name is McKayla Carter and I have dreamed of being an art teacher sense I was in high school. I grew up in St. George, Utah and attended a charter school myself, Tuacahn High School for the Preforming Arts. I graduated with my diploma and an emphasis in Visual Arts, I then continued with higher education towards Visual Arts teaching. I graduated from Dixie State University with a Bachelors in Education with an Emphasis of Visual Arts in 2017. I have received many awards in my college education and artistic career as well as winning 2nd place in the Washington County Fair professional artist’s division in 2016. I believe that it is very important to not only be able to teach my students art, but to also be able to be successful professional artist as well. My philosophy is to teach you must be able to do. I encourage my students to explore their own styles as I do with my own art.

When I am not teaching, you can most likely find me in my home studio working on commission or personal art projects. I enjoy spending my days painting as much as possible, but I have passion for the outdoors. Growing up in St. George, there was always something to do outside. My husband and I enjoy exploring our backyard mountains and cooking around a campfire.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am mostly available my email.
